Version 0.5.0, but basically 1.0.0


Alright! 0.5.0 is here!

Since this is the halfway version, I made sure to polish it up and catch as many bugs as I could, since I’m moving on to other projects for a bit after this release. But the whole game’s here, all I wanted to do with it is done, it’s just missing a few features I wanna add sometime later, like online highscores and such.

Speaking of features, heeeere’s what this version adds:

  • High score tracking. Only yourself, and it’s only one, but it gives ya a nice goal to shoot for
  • Keyboard controls. Left/right to aim, up/space to fire. This makes it work with super simple Android remotes/controllers too
  • Animations everywhere. Fired your shot? Now it actually travels instead of automagically showing up. Filled your board up and got a game over? Watch all your tiles fall! Playing the web version, and waiting for it to load? Watch your window fill up to match the game’s page around it. I’m proud of that one.

What’s next for The Powers That Three? Like I said earlier, I wanna add online high scores so you don’t have to play against just yourself. Maybe something like a daily challenge where everyone gets the same set of tiles, and you gotta get the highest score for that day. Experiment more with the art, make ’em easier on the eyes, maybe let you have full values on tiles instead of just the exponent, etc. I got a whole mental list of things.

Until then though, I got two main ideas for my next project, which you can come vote on tomorrow on my Patreon! If it ties though, I’ll be having a much more vague poll on my Twitter.
